Discover the Rich World of Vegan Indian Dishes at The Tiffin Tin

At our Indian takeaway in London, we believe that no matter your dietary choices, flavour should never be compromised. That’s why we are proud to offer a diverse array of vegan dishes that are as delicious and satisfying as our non-vegan options.

Veganism may seem like a modern movement but, in India, plant-based eating has been part of everyday life for centuries, originating from Hindu, Jain and Buddhist principles of avoiding animal products out of respect for living beings. This cultural foundation gave rise to a rich diet comprised of naturally vegan ingredients such as spices, vegetables, legumes, herbs  and plant oils that build deep flavours without relying on meat or dairy. Instead of butter or cream, dishes often use coconut milk, ground nuts, or oil-based masalas for richness. Protein comes from chickpeas, lentils, kidney beans and tofu. The result? Meals that are naturally lower in saturated fats, packed with fibre, and full of bold, anti-inflammatory spices like turmeric, ginger, cumin, and coriander.

In our kitchens, we honour those traditions while also adapting some modern favourites to suit a vegan lifestyle.

Traditional Vegan Favourites That Speak for Themselves

At the Tiffin Tin, we offer a selection of naturally vegan classics that come straight from the heart of traditional Indian home cooking. Brinjal Paloong is a comforting, slow-cooked dish made from tender aubergine, and spinach that adds a boost of iron and vitamin C. Another traditional Indian vegan staple is Aloo Chhole: a North Indian curry made of potato and chickpeas, simmered with onion, garlic, and warming spices like turmeric and cumin, that is packed with protein and supports digestion with its anti-inflammatory spice blend. Then there’s Shahi Rajma, our luxurious red kidney bean curry, cooked in a thick, spiced tomato gravy. This dish is both hearty and elegant, with slow-cooked beans that are full of fibre.

Modern Plant-Based Twists on Indian Classics

While traditional recipes form the core of our menu, we also love experimenting with modern vegan ingredients. That’s why we’ve introduced plant-based versions of two of our most-loved dishes: Tikka Masala and Jalfrezi, reimagined with our specially crafted plant-based meat made from a blend of seitan and tofu. This combination fuses tofu’s ability to soak up spices and sauces with seitan’s firm, meat-like texture to produce a protein-rich alternative that allows us to replicate traditional non-vegan Indian takeaway staples. Whether you’re vegan, curious, or just in the mood to try something new, these updated classics offer a delicious, guilt-free way to enjoy your takeaway favourites.
